Following the military operation that removed Nicolas Maduro from Venezuela

By Sammy,

Following the military operation that removed Nicolas Maduro from Venezuela, President Trump announced at Mar-a-Lago his intention to temporarily oversee the country, stating "We're going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition." He drew parallels to previous actions against adversaries, including the Soleimani assassination and recent Iranian nuclear strikes, while warning that U.S. forces stood ready for additional strikes if necessary.

Trump revealed that American forces deliberately disabled Caracas's electrical grid to facilitate the nighttime extraction, explaining "It was dark. The lights of Caracas were largely turned off due to a certain expertise that we have." He declared that major U.S. petroleum companies would now rehabilitate Venezuela's oil infrastructure. Top General Dan Caine described the operation's scope, noting that "the word integration does not explain the sheer complexity of such a mission" which deployed over 150 aircraft hemisphere-wide, resulting in the peaceful surrender and arrest of both Maduro and Flores without American casualties.

Secretary of State Rubio hinted at further regional actions, suggesting Cuban officials should be "concerned at least a little bit." Trump warned Colombian President Petro to "watch his ass" regarding cocaine trafficking.

International responses continue to come in. Israeli officials offered strong support, with Prime Minister Netanyahu saluting Trump's "bold and historic leadership on behalf of freedom and justice." Minister Chikli declared that Maduro had run "a criminal and drug empire that directly fueled Hezbollah and Iran."

Venezuelan Vice President Rodriguez demanded "the immediate release of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores." UN Secretary-General Guterres' spokesperson called the action "a dangerous precedent," while Venezuela's UN Ambassador characterized it as colonial warfare aimed at resource plunder. The Security Council will convene Monday at Colombia's request, supported by Russia and China.
