Following the military operation that removed Nicolas Maduro from Venezuela, President Trump announced at Mar-a-Lago his intention to temporarily oversee the country, stating "We're going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition." International responses continue to come in. Israeli officials offered strong support, with Prime Minister Netanyahu saluting Trump's "bold and historic leadership on behalf of freedom and justice." Minister Chikli declared that Maduro had run "a criminal and drug empire that directly fueled Hezbollah and Iran."
Venezuelan Vice President Rodriguez demanded "the immediate release of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores." UN Secretary-General Guterres' spokesperson called the action "a dangerous precedent," while Venezuela's UN Ambassador characterized it as colonial warfare aimed at resource plunder. The Security Council will convene Monday at Colombia's request, supported by Russia and China.
