After hovering above the NIS 7 mark for nearly two years, gasoline prices in Israel are finally heading lower.
The Energy Ministry says that as of January 1, a liter of self-service fuel will cost NIS 6.85, a drop of 26 agorot - about a 3.7% decrease from December. Officials attribute the change to an 11% fall in regional fuel prices in the Mediterranean, reduced demand, easing geopolitical pressure, and movements in the shekel-dollar exchange rate, all of which factor into how pump prices are calculated.
