Aliyah to Israel slowed noticeably in 2025, with about 21,900 new immigrants arriving - roughly one-third fewer than the 32,800 recorded the year before. While Russia once again topped the list of source countries, the number of arrivals from there plunged to around 8,300, a 57% drop from 2024 and a dramatic fall compared to the more than 74,000 who came in 2022 after the war in Ukraine began.
At the same time, Western countries showed rising momentum. The United States sent approximately 3,500 immigrants, a 5% increase from last year and 30% more than in 2023, while France jumped 45% to about 3,300 arrivals and the UK climbed 19% to roughly 840. Immigration and Absorption Minister Ofir Sofer said the government is pushing a broad initiative to encourage immigration from countries facing growing antisemitism, alongside expanded programs to support newcomers in housing, employment, higher education, and community integration.
