The Israeli Air Force has presented organizational and operational changes following the completion of its investigations into the failures of October 7. The Air Force said its mission definition was updated to explicitly include defense of Israel's borders, alongside structural changes and expanded readiness across all aerial platforms.
According to the military, alert levels were increased significantly, including a more than 250% rise in overall readiness, higher arming readiness for fighter jets, and doubled readiness for attack helicopters. New directives allow aircraft to strike armed attackers more rapidly inside Israel under emergency conditions, including authorizing strikes near civilian areas when residents are sheltered.
The Air Force also said it expanded helicopter capabilities, halted planned reductions to the attack helicopter fleet, and defined hundreds of rapid-landing sites to enable fast deployment of ground forces during surprise attacks.
