Israeli prosecutors have charged a Rishon Lezion resident with espionage after he allegedly filmed the home of former prime minister Naftali Bennett on behalf of Iranian handlers. The suspect, Vadim Kupriyanov, 40, was arrested on December 8 after security services identified footage taken near Bennett's residence in Ra'anana, according to police and prosecutors.
Investigators said Kupriyanov was in contact with an Iranian agent via Telegram beginning in November and carried out tasks in exchange for payments transferred through PayPal. Prosecutors stated he sent multiple videos, including footage showing the entrance to Bennett's home, and gathered additional information in central Israel.
The indictment, filed in the Central District Court in Lod, includes charges of maintaining contact with a foreign agent and espionage, with prosecutors requesting continued detention until sentencing.
