In the aftermath of the terror attack that struck a Hanukkah event at Sydney's Bondi Beach, Australian authorities have stripped a British national of his visa and begun deportation proceedings over alleged pro-Nazi activity online.
Federal police say the 43-year-old man, who had been living in Queensland, used two X accounts between October and November to display the banned Nazi _Hakenkreuz_ symbol and to promote violent, antisemitic ideology. He was charged on December 8, after which his visa was immediately canceled.
Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke said the decision reflected Australia's zero-tolerance approach to hate, telling the national broadcaster: "If you come to Australia on a visa, you are here as a guest... If someone comes here for the purposes of hate, they can leave." The man has since been placed in immigration detention and will be deported unless he chooses to depart voluntarily.
